Baumüller Smart Value
Get more out of your drive technology with IoT: Baumüller Smart Value is all about the added value that smart drive technology gives mechanical engineers and machine operators. Baumüller Smart Value enhances the scope of our servo drives: It takes existing data, such as power, current, torque, speed and position, and provides users with important additional information (e.g. machine operating status) or decisions are made directly in the drive to prevent machine failures. The same can be said of the associated design software, which ensures that the motor / controller combination is optimally dimensioned for the respective application and the controller is parameterized. In addition, the design can be immediately verified and optimized on the digital twin using simulation technology.
In simplified terms, a hydrogen compressor functions in the same way as a reciprocating compressor: The higher the pressure becomes the more power is required. Yet, the corresponding connected load is extremely high and is very expensive. Since a high connected load is only needed for a short time, the dimensioning of the capacitors must be optimized to reduce costs for the machine operator.
Use Case 4: Hydrogen compressor
In this specific example, the high power input should be buffered by an electrical energy store. The crunch point here is the dimensioning of the capacitors. This is complex and time-consuming.
The movement and load profile were used to calculate the necessary power profile. With the simulation, the most economical solution for the customer could be found quickly. The load cases were simulated, to find out which ratio of direct link capacitors and installed connected load is most efficient. The simulation showed that by installing only 50 mF link capacity, the connected load is more than halved from 106 to 50 kW.
The extensive library also contains a model of energy management. This can be used to model the hydrogen compressor quickly.
