b maXX accessories for targeted adaptation
Match the equipment of your drive system precisely to your application. A comprehensive accessories package is available for the b maXX drive families. Individual selection of the appropriate accessories enables, among other things, an extended scope of performance as well as cost and energy efficiency.
Mains filters
Mains filters are combinations of capacitors, chokes, resistors and voltage limiters designed to reduce electromagnetic interference in the environment. The direction of action is bidirectional, i.e. line-borne errors emanating from the converter are reduced, but the interference resistance of the drive to line interference such as those caused by lightning, fuse failure or simple switching operations is also improved at the same time.
With their attenuation characteristics, the mains filters of the BFN... series have been specially developed for Baumüller power electronics. Their use enables compliance with the limit values of the EMC product standard for variable-speed electrical drives EN61800-3 and the “Generic standards” EN61000-6-4 required for the industrial sector (“second environment”).
When using the BFN filter series in combination with Baumüller converters, Baumüller motor cables and Baumüller motors and taking into account the installation and mounting instructions in this and in the instruction handbook of the converter, the protection requirement of the European EMC Directive and the EMC Act (EMVG) is fulfilled.
For a price-optimized configuration, mains filters are always connected upstream outside the device. In this way, several power modules can be combined on one mains filter, which reduces the costs for the overall system.
Power chokes
The power chokes are designed for the peak current of the devices, so that they are not saturated and lose their effectiveness in case of overcurrent demand of the application.
For the function of the b maXX 50XX and b maXX 51XX power feed units as well as for the b maXX 40XX and b maXX 6000 devices, it is absolutely necessary to use a power choke. Operation without a power choke is not permitted.
Encoder cable
For all encoder systems, a pre-assembled trailing encoder cable can be used. The cable sheath is suitable for use in environments with acids and bases (coolants).
Depending on the encoder type, the connection on the motor side consists of a 12- or 17-pin signal round plug.
Motor cables
The motor cables are highly flexible trailing cables with overall shielding. They comply with VDE, UL and CSA regulations. The control cables are integrated as star quad. The brake control and the connection of the temperature sensor are fed out via the plug of the main connection.
Overall, the small cable cross-section, low weight and non-impeding surface make the cables suitable for optimum utilization of cable trays. This enables efficient use of the cables in mobile cable handlers. Due to the overall shielding with an optical coverage > 85% it is an EMC non-critical cable.
DC link coupling module
A DC link coupling connects several power modules, thus enabling energy equalization between the individual devices. The surplus energy is thus not "burned up", but is available to other drive units without additional energy being drawn from the power supply.
The DC link coupling module enables the connection of different Baumüller b maXX servo drives in machines and systems. In this way, cable-guided devices can be connected to devices on a copper rail in accordance with standards.
Customer benefits
- Cost-efficient connection of the busbar system with cables
- Star wiring of the DC link
Signal bus coupling module
The signal bus coupling module has been developed to combine servo drives with different signals and voltages in machines and plants.
In addition, the signal bus coupling module can also be used to lift the maximum limit of 12 devices with connected signal bus in the machine. This means that the number of devices connected to the signal bus is unlimited. The module can also be useful to extend and accordingly distribute the signal from one control cabinet to the next.
Customer benefits
- Cost-efficient connection of the busbar system with cables
- Star wiring of the DC link
DC link filter
If the motor cables are too long, voltage peaks that are dangerous for the motor can occur. If these are frequently or continuously above the limit value, motor damage can occur, and in the worst case, total failure of the motor. This can be prevented if link filters are installed at the converters or link involved, because these filters prevent or remove the harmful overvoltages before they reach the motor.
Intermediate circuit filter for mono and side-by-side units
DC link capacitance unit
With the DC link capacitance unit, the braking energy can be temporarily stored for dynamic applications and used for subsequent acceleration.
Toroidal cores
The use of toroidal cores counteracts the cause of bearing current damage, i.e. the amplitude and slope of the common-mode voltage at the converter output is reduced.
