Dynamics and high torque in one

Baumüller with liquid-cooled motors at SPS 2025

The motor specialist Baumüller will present three new motor types at SPS 2025 and, with its extensive motor modular system, position itself as a highly adaptable drive partner. In Hall 1 at Booth 560, interested visitors can learn about the latest developments in servo motors, three-phase synchronous motors, and torque motors.

A special highlight is Baumüller’s information on the option of equipping its motors with liquid cooling. For its servo motors as well as its torque motors and main drives, Baumüller offers the possibility of increasing power density through cooling with water or oil.

Liquid cooling of electric motors is implemented either via channels in the stator or in a special jacket in the motor housing. Thanks to their high power density, liquid-cooled motors can often be designed smaller than air-cooled motors. This reduces the installation space on the one hand and, on the other, increases dynamics so that cycle times can be reduced. In addition, motors with this particularly efficient cooling method can be operated at high torques. Applications that require both high dynamics and high torque, such as machine tools, presses and forming technology, and injection molding machines, therefore benefit especially from this option.

The new motor series that Baumüller will present at SPS – the DSC2 servo motors for applications with high torque demand, the DST3 torque motors for example for servo presses and plastics machines, and the versatile DS4 main drives – are also available in liquid-cooled versions.
